Rebecca Arends earned a BA in History and Afro-American Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and attended The Ailey School (Oprah Winfrey Foundation Fellowship). She has collaborated with New York based Seán Curran Company for nine seasons and has assisted Curran on commissions for José Limón Dance Company, Darrah Carr Dance, and BFA programs at Ailey/Fordham, Tisch School of the Arts at NYU, and Coker College. Serving as cultural ambassadors of the US State Department, SCCo toured throughout Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan. Rebecca is the founder of RAREdancework, a non-profit organization dedicated to the performing arts. Her work has been presented at Dixon Place, Greenspace, Constellation-Chicago, and Drexel University. She is also the director, choreographer, and co-creator of The Unwritten Law with collaborator Chesney Snow, which Broadway World praised as “political theater at its best.”
